New version that starts a new challenge for Box: supporting not only more environments, but known apps too. There’re a lot uncovered applications that need their own icons existing in our theme. Thanks to Đurađ Radojičić, the Lubuntu Artwork Team is getting now a reinforcement to make it possible.
The poll is up!
Cast your vote by choosing your 5 favourite wallpapers.
The poll will be up until 9th March, and the top five contributions will be included in Lubuntu 15.04 and packaged into the Ubuntu repositories.
We would like to remind everyone participating in the contest that your submissions must adhere to the Creative Commons ShareAlike 3.0 license. We have sent you a reminder on Flickr with instructions how to change your licenses on Flickr. Please change the license before 9th March, otherwise we are not allowed to use your wallpaper and must therefore disqualify your submission.
Please feel free to share the word and good luck to all contestants!
We’re preparing Lubuntu 15.04, Vivid Vervet, for distribution in April 2015. With this Beta pre-release, we are now at the stage of being semi stable. However pre-releases are not suitable for a production environment.

Lubuntu developers are proud to announce that (with a delay of two weeks) version 14.04.2 of the fast and lightweight operating system is now available for download via this
link.
Release Manager Walter Lapchynski explains: we had to delay the release for two weeks because of problems with X meta-packages which caused us numerous re-spins. But we wanted to do it right in order to maintain stability of existing installations and – on the other hand – roll up accumulated stable updates into updated images to reduce download requirements for new deployments.
Jens Leineweber, Head of Lubuntu Press adds in: and because we want our users to experience a stable environment even for computers with low resources, we decided to not release a .2 version of the alternate installation. That’s due to the fact, that we were not able to fix all the bugs brought to our attention.
One major issue the team is fighting with is the debian-installer that causes troubles. Once again Walter Lapchynski: we’ve been asked a lot lately to stop doing alternates in lieu of netboot, but that’s not really a good solution.
The Lubuntu Team will now team up with the Ubuntu Release Team and Servers Team to develop a possible low resource version of the Ubiquity installer.
Caution: before you install Lubuntu, we advice you to have a read of the

Preparing the forthcoming Lubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet release, the Box theme has been updated and re-merged with Ubuntu’s Light Theme to the use last GTK features, like the new HeaderBars used in Gnome native apps. Changes include a lot of bug fixes, adjustments in colour definitions, modified headerbars and toolbars, improved paddings and distances, improved 3rd party apps support (like Nautilus, Maps or Music), etc.
If you want to use Box theme in your distro just download it from the Artwork page.
Here we go again! It’s that time of the year when Lubuntu asks the community to contribute an artistic touch to the distribution.
Please feel free to join us at Flickr and upload your favourite creation, that’s one submission per user so make it count :).
Submissions are accepted until 1st March 23:59:59 UTC+01:00, and the polls will open shortly after that. The polls will be open until 9th March, and the top five wallpapers will be included by default in Lubuntu 15.04.
Please make sure to follow the rules, as failing to do so will get you disqualified.
Good luck to all contestants and please help us spread the word :).
Hello. This blog, as many others, is continuously receiving disgusting spam messages and troll comments. Of course all of them go directly to the trash can and marked as non-welcomed, so they no longer can annoy us. It’s ok, I can deal with it with the help of Google.
But what I’m not going to tolerate is, under the appearance of nice readers and users, allow offensive comments or trolling about non-related things or articles on this blog. So please, you non-bots, humans that intentionally work for those companies colelcting data from blogs, public profiles and other stuff to feed the beast, you know you work sucks and I doubt about your human quality and integrity. You’re banned.
Thanks everyone for your patience.
