Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a chat protocol that traditionally has served as the standard for communication among open source projects. If you need help on using IRC please read this (if you don’t have an IRC chat app installed, you can use the Webchat links instead).

Matrix is an open source protocol for interoperable, decentralised, real-time communication. The default home server provides IRC bridging to a variety of IRC networks. Those relevant to our IRC channels are linked below.
Telegram is a popular cross-platform cloud-based instant messaging service. Though it supports encryption and has an open source client, the server code is proprietary. The following channels are bridged to the IRC channels above with lubot, our Matterbridge instance. Note that we are aware that not all of these links are working – we are working to fix this however it is not a “quick fix”, so be patient while we update these links to make them work again.

AskUbuntu is a question and answer site (official support) for Ubuntu users and developers based on the Stack Exchange software.
