Almost there. The default theme for Lubuntu, Ozone, is near to its final version. Lubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin is getting more and more polished. But if you can’t wait, or you have another version (or a distro with the LXDE environment) feel free to test it. Download here.

Getting close…

We’re getting close to august, the month  the Lubuntu artwork will be released (if finished, of course). Just an sketch bu, doesn’t it look sharpy?

You can always check periodically the changes at the wiki. And, of course, you can submit your own creations to the Wallpaper Flickr group. The “contest” winners artwork will be included in the Lubuntu Artwork official package and, if not, everybody will see your work (2560 x 1600 pixels sized) at the Ubuntu Gallery.

Here we go…

…let’s rock’n’roll. Once a distro is released, the “artwork makers” begin their mockups. And so on, Lubuntu is, for me, the best for testing its own potential and capabilities. Every release is a challenge, and migrating to GTK3 is a hard work. Let’s mockup the world and make it better!

CD wallet

With the release of Lubuntu 11.04 there’s a familiar artwork / marketing piece that is a must have: that’s the cd wallet, cd and lightscribe disc prints. After popular acceptation, the model (similar and continuous with the Lubuntu “wavy” style) is now available for download at the marketing wiki page. Happy printing!

Winds of change

Today has been released (with all the fireworks via thousands of blogs) the Ubuntu 11.04 distro, aka Natty Narwhal. Somebody told me about this post that I was right about the incredible resemblance btween Unity and older environments. So, my intention wasn’t insult or criticize the new Canonical’s development. Unlike this, I’d like to see how history repeats (as singed by Shirley Bassey) denoting “old” designs on interfaces and (logically) artwork becomes new things really useful for us. And for you, crazy about look’n’feel, just like me, here goes a few desktops comparative (by order, GNUStep with Camaelon theme, ÉtoiléOS, Gnome 3, ElementaryOS mockup and, of course, Ubuntu Unity):
