Urgent Testing Needed: Lubuntu 16.04.6 RCs
Lubuntu needs your help testing the Lubuntu 16.04.6 Release Candidates so we can release on Thursday, February 28, 2019.
Ubuntu 16.04.6 will be released on Thursday, February 28, 2019, and flavors have been invited to optionally participate in this release. This is due to a recent apt security issue allowing attackers to easily install arbitrary packages onto Lubuntu machines. Lubuntu takes our users’ security very seriously, and we need your help testing these images to ensure no problems are found. Lubuntu 16.04 will be supported until April 2019.
We especially need the help of i386 testers, so we can continue to provide first-class support for the architecture. Without testing from i386 users, users of this architecture will not receive this important update.
This is a fairly low-risk testing process. If you are running a Lubuntu 16.04 system that is currently up-to-date, you are already running what will become 16.04.6. We also need testing of fresh installations using this ISO; you can find the tests that need to be ran here. Please make sure to mark your results on the ISO QA Tracker so we can keep track of tests completed.
More information about this vulnerability can be found on USN-3863-1, DSA-4371-1, and the MITRE page for CVE-2019-3462.
