Lubuntu Yakkety Yak Beta 1 (soon to be 16.10) has been released!
We have a couple papercuts listed in the release notes, so please take a look.

The latest and last point release of the Lubuntu Trusty Tahr LTS, 14.04.5, is now available for download.
This release includes images for amd64 (commonly referred to as 64-bit), i386 (commonly referred to as 32-bit), and PowerPC.
Please read the release notes, which covers the latest update as well as the whole history of the release. Additionally, you can download the images from the Ubuntu cdimage server.
Just note that we have a bug affecting PowerPC that affects installing Lubuntu alongside another operating system. More details are in the release notes.

Thanks to all the hard work from our contributors, we are pleased to announce that Lubuntu 16.04.1 LTS has been released! This release provides updates to the Lubuntu 16.04 LTS to reduce the update time post-download and an upgrade path for users running Lubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Thanks to all the hard work from our contributors, Lubuntu 16.04 LTS has been released! With the codename Xenial Xerus, Lubuntu 16.04 LTS is the 10th release of Lubuntu, and the second long term support release. Lubuntu 16.04 LTS will be supported until April 2019, with three years of support.
Lubuntu is a flavor of Ubuntu based on the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE), as its default GUI. The goal is to provide a very lightweight distribution, with all the advantages of the Ubuntu world (repositories, support, etc.). Lubuntu is targeted at “normal” PC and laptop users running on low-spec hardware. Such users may not know how to use command line tools, and in most cases they just don’t have enough resources for all the bells and whistles of the “full-featured” mainstream distributions.
With many LXDE components, Lubuntu also uses well-known applications, such as Firefox, Openbox, Pidgin, to name a few. The Lubuntu project wiki contains more information on the project.
The Lubuntu Release Team is happy to announce the first beta milestone of Xenial Xerus (to become 16.04 LTS in April) has now been released! A few bug fixes have come since the last alpha, but one piece of excitement is that this new milestone includes the 4.4 kernel that will be shipping with the final product.
Make sure to read the release notes to be aware of known bugs and workarounds. Your help would be most appreciated in terms of helping confirm/troubleshoot/triage those bugs, as well as filing any new bugs you find.
Speaking of bugs, though we’re still working on LXQt for a future release, we do expect to have some bug fixes for LXDE in the final release, so make sure to keep watching for announcements, especially on the Lubuntu Development mailing list.

The second alpha of the Xenial Xerus (to become 16.04) has now been released! As usual, you are asked to read the release notes so that you are aware of issues and thus save you time filing them again. But, please do test it as widely as possible. Features:

We reported how to run upcoming Lubuntu desktop LXQt in Xenial Xerus on a Raspberry Pi 2 and now, thanks to tester Herminio Hernandez, Jr. (and his iBook G4), we can confirm that it works on PowerPC machines!
To replicate:
Previous to having the LXQt packages in the repositories, PPC testers were unable to use the PPA because Launchpad didn’t build for architectures outside of i386 or amd64. The other benefit is that it should be less cutting edge and thus more stable.
Since we release PowerPC images only for LTS versions and since we’re not planning on releasing LXQt for Xenial, there will be a bit more waiting for PPC users, but at least in this way, a pretty solid preview can be obtained.
Should you follow this procedure, please report any bugs against the appropriate package itself, since all of the necessary packages are in the repos.
Meanwhile, PPC testers can get back to ISO testing the LXDE Xenial Xerus image, which is due 21 April 2016.
