Lubuntu Artful Aardvark Alpha 1 has been released!

Lubuntu Artful Aardvark Alpha 1 (soon to be 17.10) has been released! Also in this release (in addition to the usual LXDE ISO) is an experimental image with LXQt instead of LXDE.

For the LXDE edition, we have a couple papercuts listed in the release notes, so please take a look there.

You can grab the Lubuntu images from here: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/artful/alpha-1/

We recommend that if you install Lubuntu Artful Aardvark Alpha 1, that you download the LXDE edition rather than the experimental LXQt ISO. The LXQt ISO will most likely break your system.

If you would like to read the release notes for Lubuntu Next (the experimental LXQt edition of Lubuntu), you can find them here. The release notes lists all of the known issues for the images.

You can grab the experimental Lubuntu Next images from here: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu-next/releases/artful/alpha-1/

A big thanks to the whole Lubuntu team and contributors for helping pull this release together! If you would like to join our team and help make Lubuntu 17.10 the best release ever, feel free to get involved! Any contribution of your time, no matter how small or trivial, helps us in the long run.

  1. I installed the Lubuntu 17.10 LXQT on a laptop a week ago and so far it works perfectly. I use it for daily work. It is an alpha with some maturity. Highly recommend! 🙂

  2. You guys have done a great job, it works great! I just recommend giving a touch of more modern or youthful colors … Greetings

  3. I have detected an error when unpacking files in .rar format, do not run it! Give error, please check! Many thanks

  4. Why don’t you put a BLACK THEME IN THE WIDGET of CUSTOMIZE LOOK ? LUBUNTU MUST HAVE A BLACK THEME PUT THERE BY DEFAULT

    • We don’t have time and resources to maintain two different themes. Also, since we’re changing our widgets/themes engine right now, it has no sense put effort on it. Anyways, it’s easy to download any GTK3 themes from gnome-look and install on .themes folder.

  5. I delete the xarchiver package to unzip files and instead install Ark and it works perfectly! Otherwise it works very well…Thanks
